To protect the safety and well being of the public, governmental regulatory agencies enforce high standards of quality for the useful goods and services of major US industries. Let’s expand these quality standards to include laws of government (statutes, regulations, ordinances…), for the same reason. For example, quality design standards for legislative bills would block frivolous and pork barrel laws, and a competent quality assurance program would lead to the repeal of unnecessary and harmful laws. The result would be more efficient government and an improvement in the rule of law. A discussion of quality programs for laws can be found at www.scienceoflaws.org.
