Innovate Your State is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to educating and encouraging public participation to fundamentally improve government.
How do I get involved with Innovate Your State?
The best way to get involved with Innovate Your State is to sign up to receive updates through our mailing list at www.innovateyourstate.org/join. You can also donate to Innovate Your State at www.innovateyourstate.org/donate. If you're interested in getting involved in the Fix California Challenge, visit www.FixCal.org to learn more and submit your idea.
How do I submit an idea for the Fix California Challenge?
It's easy! Go to www.FixCal.org, create an account and submit your idea.
Can I submit my idea offline?
Yes you can. Please just make sure to include the following information in your paper submission:
- Your First and Last Name
- Your Email Address
- Innovative Title for Your Idea
- 250 Word Summary of Your Idea
- Supporting Documents for Your Idea
- 140 Character Pitch for Your Idea

Who can submit an idea?
Anyone and everyone! Californians, and those with thoughts on how to best innovate California's government are especially encouraged.
Can I submit a private idea?
We believe in transparency and the innovation that is spurred through collaboration, which is why we encourage you to submit your idea publicly. But we understand in certain circumstances the need for privacy. If you would like to submit your idea privately, please email it to email@example.com with the subject line "Private Challenge Idea". Your idea will not be posted publicly but it will be viewed by Innovate Your State consultants and advisors. Idea submissions submitted privately must answer the same questions and follow the same guidelines as the online and mailed submissions (see "Can I submit my idea offline" above. Please send a follow up email if you do not receive a notification of receipt.
What is the deadline for submissions?
As of now, the Fix California Challenge will be open for submissions on an ongoing basis. The public will be notified if / when the challenge closes for submissions.
What if I want to participate, but don't have an idea to submit?
We encourage you to participate by voting and commenting on the ideas that are submitted.
I've already submitted my idea. What's next?
After submitting your idea we encourage you to share it with your network via email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Instagram with the Challenge hashtag: #FixCal. If Innovate Your State is interested in helping you pursue your idea, someone will be in contact via email.
